Pallet Chats: Aaron Aalto

A short chat with Aaron Alto on design constraints

Hello friends 👋,

Welcome to the weekly edition of our newsletter.  The Pallet Post features conversations with awesomely insightful professionals, jobs from companies they recommend, and a few of our own unique takeaways.

Pallet Chats are interviews that our team conducts over Twitter. While we love in-depth interviews, sometimes all you want is a quick, bite-sized piece of knowledge. We've made it simple–learning from the best as easy as reading your DM's.

Today's guest is Aaron Aalto, an independent product designer and design educator.

I'd like to quickly highlight a point made on "constraints".  While Aaron is speaking on a more, shall we say, philosophical level as it pertains to the importance of constraints, there is also a literal application in one of our favorite tools: Figma.

Constraints are an extremely important feature, and an excellent way for designers to display "intent".

Below is a tweet that explains what we mean :)

That's it for today!

If you're interested in more of what Aaron has to say or make, you can follow him on Twitter here.

And if you're interested in learning how to sketch, Aaron teaches a wonderful course which you can find here:
